A city through time
Explore the current top 100 as each city's towers appeared, plus five historic New York landmarks. This is a selection of documented buildings, not a complete reconstruction of any skyline.

How to read the timeline
Completion years are included from the end of that year. A demolished or destroyed building is excluded from the end of its removal year. A historical record height is not necessarily the same date as full project completion. Missing towers, altered heights and lost structures outside this selection are not reconstructed.
The chart keeps the selected city's maximum documented height fixed while the year changes. Bars compare architectural heights; their order and widths do not represent a street view. 2026 uses the directory snapshot, not a forecast of the rest of the year. Source confidence remains field-specific.
