A dated construction milestone

SOM reported on 30 January 2026 that 8 Shenton Way’s superstructure had reached the 15th floor. The architect described the planned 305-metre building as Singapore’s first supertall and identified 2028 as the intended completion year. The floor count belongs to that January report. [1]

Gardens enter the skyline

The update says the rising structure was beginning to show the scale of the planned terraces and elevated gardens. SOM’s new office in nearby Guoco Tower provides a view of the construction site. [1]

What to follow as work advances

Editorial analysis: elevated landscapes make the junction between structure, waterproofing and maintenance access an important subject for future reporting. A useful next update would document how these areas are built and tested. The January milestone does not establish the tower’s September floor count, and the stated completion year remains a target.
