Construction begins

Multiplex announced on 22 September 2026 that work had commenced on AURA, a 67-storey residential tower for OSK Property at Melbourne Square in Southbank. The contractor identifies the tower as the precinct’s third stage and gives early 2030 as its planned completion date. This milestone marks the start of work, not a completed structure. [1]

Plans include approximately 1,800 square metres of retail and resident facilities distributed through the tower. Multiplex describes a pool and gardens on level 7, social spaces on levels 49 and 50, and further amenities on levels 66 and 67. The contractor previously delivered Melbourne Square’s first two towers and is also building BLVD. [1]

Engineering considerations

Editorial analysis: Locating pools, gardens and communal rooms at different heights creates coordination questions for structural loads, waterproofing and building services. Future technical disclosures would help explain how these spaces connect to the tower’s structure and vertical transport. The announcement does not specify the foundation or lateral-load system.
