Vertical transport order
KONE announced on 1 October 2026 that it will supply 59 elevators and 15 escalators for Burj Azizi in Dubai. The tower is planned to reach 725 metres. Its elevator package includes a MiniSpace unit designed for a single journey of 631.5 metres, with speeds across the installation reaching up to 10 metres per second. [1]
The manufacturer says the project will use UltraRope technology and its newly launched high-rise offering. KONE identifies cable weight and resonance associated with building sway as challenges for extreme elevator travel. Gardinia Building Contracting is the main contractor and AE7 the lead consultant. These are announced specifications, not operating performance measurements. [1]
Engineering perspective
Editorial analysis: Long travel distances make the interaction between elevator equipment and tower movement especially important. Future commissioning information would help distinguish design capability from demonstrated service reliability and passenger handling under everyday conditions.
