Modernizing an occupied complex
Jardine Schindler Philippines announced on October 27 that its RCBC Plaza modernization covers 51 elevators and six escalators. The company says work began in March 2026. The announcement describes an ongoing upgrade in Makati, rather than a newly completed installation. [1]
The scope includes elevator maintenance and Schindler PORT destination control, linking building access with passenger routing. Schindler also describes a small-split escalator solution intended to address installation constraints and reduce disruption in occupied buildings. Its claims about shorter waits and energy efficiency are expected benefits, not measured results reported for this project. [1]
Editorial analysis: For an occupied office complex, the engineering challenge includes maintaining usable routes while equipment is taken out of service. Phasing, delivery access and temporary passenger demand deserve as much attention as the replacement machinery.
