Hotel and public attractions
Hyatt and Extell announced plans on October 28 for The StandardX Times Square at 255 West 45th Street. The approximately 1,800-room property would introduce the brand to North America. Hyatt anticipates opening in the second half of 2028; this announcement does not establish that the building is complete. [1]
The planned development includes an observation deck more than 1,000 feet above Manhattan, an enclosed free-fall ride and a rooftop pool. Restaurants, bars and nightlife venues would serve hotel guests and the wider public. The observation-deck elevation is not a statement of architectural height. [1]
Editorial analysis: Combining overnight guests with visitors to elevated attractions makes circulation a central design question. Future technical disclosures could clarify elevator zoning, separate arrival routes and how peak visitor demand interacts with hotel operations.
