Connecting the tower to its district

SOM has reported on an October 12 Singapore event examining high-density urban development. Published October 14, the account describes presentations by Vram Malek, Nicolas Medrano and Dennis Ho, followed by tours of The Skywaters and Elementum. [1]

Medrano discussed The Skywaters, which SOM describes as under construction, and its combination of workplaces, housing and urban parks. His presentation connected mixed-use development with walkable streets and green connections. Ho explored adaptive reuse and urban regeneration through a vision for Central, Hong Kong, informed by other international projects. [1]

Editorial analysis: for tall-building teams, combining these uses makes circulation and service planning part of the public-space question. The event offers design context for an active Singapore project; it does not establish a new structural milestone, revised height or completion date.
